Elevator Pitches Are Dead: Here's My Rebellious Truth

I've never believed in elevator pitches—I find them fake, forced, and honestly, kind of pointless. I'll never forget standing in some overcrowded networking event, silently mouthing a rehearsed 30-second script, feeling completely detached from every polished word. It felt suffocating. In that moment, I knew: this scripted, safe version of myself wasn't cutting it.

Every real, game-changing opportunity in my life came from ditching the script, ignoring the "rules," and just speaking openly and honestly. Raw authenticity is messy and uncomfortable—but it’s also incredibly powerful. People feel it immediately, because realness is rare and magnetic.

My real strengths aren't listed neatly on my resume or tied to perfectly practiced pitches. They're shaped from chaos and courage—moments when I embraced risk, trusted my gut, and stumbled forward. My insights don't come from classrooms or formulas; they're lessons learned from real-world experience. My passion isn't rehearsed enthusiasm; it's a fire sparked by genuine care, relentless curiosity, and refusing to settle for mediocrity.

When I speak, I’m brutally honest about the real problems I've solved, who truly benefits from my work, and why it genuinely matters. I refuse to sacrifice my unique voice to fit into someone else's mold. The less I pretend, the stronger my connections become.

Ending conversations isn't scripted either. If we genuinely click, great—we'll naturally keep talking. I'll suggest grabbing coffee, setting up a casual call, or I'll ask a question out of pure curiosity. Forced next steps feel fake, and I'm not interested in going there.

Here's my rebellious truth: I trust my instincts, embrace imperfection, and refuse to worry about getting every word perfect. Authenticity isn't polished—it's bold, raw, and often beautifully messy. If that resonates, fantastic. If it doesn't, life's too short to fake connections anyway.

Confidence, to me, isn’t memorizing lines or pretending to have all the answers. It's about showing up fully and fearlessly as myself, imperfections proudly displayed. By boldly ditching the script, I attract people and opportunities aligned with the truest version of who I am.
